  Great restaurant for a post canoe trip dinner. Bacon and eggs with bannock is top notch for breakfast (now only offered on the weekend, unfortunately). I always stop in on my way in to or out of Algonquin Park

  Lovely ambiance and a great location by the rapids just outside the Algonquin park. It has friendly staff too and hostel rooms for rent. Unfortunately, the meals just weren't great. Had the rainbow trout and venison stew. Both were alright but I felt I could have better dining at home. Certainly I've had better fare in the area. It's fine as a rest stop coming out of the park if you need to eat but I wouldn't direct anyone to it.

  We stopped here for lunch. Amazing location, right on river. Very good food, I ordered fish and chips. Dining area is right inside art gallery so you get to see these amazing paintings while eating. Good place for lunch.

  We were hungry after cycling all morning and ready to eat at the Mad Musher which was recommended to us by Friends of Algonquin Park staff. Our first tip off was that we were put into a back room though there were tables available in a busier room. Then the waitress took a while to come. We quickly ordered coffee and a meal and after 20 minutes of waiting with no return of the waitress and no coffee, we left. We had asked another staff person to ask her to bring coffee and waited another 10 minutes. So, we cannot recommend what they claimed to be excellent food or coffee because we had none. We don't know why they chose not to serve us, but they did not.

  The food here is consistently good, particularly the fresh soups. It's got a great view of the river and often has live music on weekends. It's also an amazing location to check out Algonquin park from and if you stay at the hostel it comes with a park pass. The hostel is clean and well equipped. The only thing I don't love about the Musher is that the beds are not quite soft enough for me. If you're going to be in Whitney you should definitely eat at the Musher.
